About this site
What it is
A plain list of U.S. food recalls that involve an undeclared allergen or other undeclared ingredient, filtered by the allergens you care about. It covers the last two years and is rebuilt every week.
Where the data comes from
Two federal sources:
The FDA covers most packaged food. The USDA separately covers meat, poultry and processed egg products, which do not appear in the FDA data at all. Both are needed for reasonable coverage of a grocery store.
How the allergen labels are worked out
Neither agency publishes a machine-readable allergen field, so the labels here are read from the wording of each notice.
If the stated reason for the recall names ingredients, only those are used. If it names none, the product description is used instead and the label is shown in italics as a guess. Recalls whose notice names nothing at all are not dropped from a filtered view — they appear underneath the results as “may also affect you”, because there is no way to tell whether they involve your allergen.
Labels can therefore be wrong in both directions. Use them to find things, never as confirmation that a product is safe.
Feeds
One feed per allergen, so you can be told rather than having to check:

| Egg | /feeds/egg.xml |
| Peanut | /feeds/peanut.xml |
| Tree nut | /feeds/tree-nut.xml |
| Wheat | /feeds/wheat.xml |

Corrections
Both agencies publish the authoritative version, linked from every recall page here. Where they differ from this site, they are right.
